Some of my favorites from London Design Festival include Faye Toogood's glazed lava stone tiles for Made a Mano; Barber Osgerby's Hakano oak table based on Japanese joinery, for Galerie Kreo; and Fritz Hansen's Pair chair in its more than 8,000(!) iterations.

The world's biggest architecture firm has proposed moving the UK's Lords and MPs into a bubble-like building on London's River Thames to reduce the cost of refurbishing the crumbling Palace of Westminster. Gensler's concept is based on the hammer-beam roof of Westminster Hall, the roof of the Palace's oldest building, which is the largest medieval timber roof in Europe and was commissioned in 1393 by Richard II. Antwerp-based architecture firm Contekst recently completed this beautifully restrained residence for a private client in Pulle, Belgium. Capturing maximum light through walls of black framed windows, the open design adheres to a strict palette of light horizontal grain wood and stone. Belgian minimalism at its very best.
